FIRST LEGO League

Ready, Set – LEGO!

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an educational competition that seeks to inspire children aged 10-16 to become involved in programming and robotics.

Building Digital Skills

SAP and non-profit partner Hands on Technology e.V. have been working together since 2004 to enable teams to participate in the FLL in Central and Eastern Europe, giving youth a first glance at the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

FLL is a robotics tournament in a cheerful atmosphere, where participants solve a tricky “mission” with the help of a robot. The mission changes from year to year and is always chosen around a current topic. The 2015 mission was “Trash Trek”. Participants built and programmed an autonomous robot to solve several tasks on a table-top playing field, which were to address global trash challenges as quickly as possible. Working together on their research solutions and presenting them to a group of judges, kids develop critical thinking, team-building, and presentation skills – all the while having a ton of fun.

Watch the FLL videos and get infected by the kids’ enthusiasm and passion!
